How protein supports muscle, metabolism, body composition and a strong, youthful physique through midlife Protein is not a bodybuilding detail. It is one of the foundations of muscle preservation, recovery and body composition through midlife. For many women, protein is still associated with bodybuilding, large portions of meat or protein shakes consumed after a workout. In everyday life, breakfast may consist mainly of toast, cereal or fruit; lunch may be a light salad; and most of the day’s protein arrives at dinner. This pattern can feel perfectly healthy.
